Between the ice pellets, snow and rain that fell over the weekend, the Grand River Conservation Authority says they’re keeping a flood watch on the entire watershed.
GRCA spokesperson Cam Linwood says we saw about 70 millimetres of rainfall Sunday night and into Monday morning.
“That precipitation that fell, along with some melting that’ll occur over the next few days as warmer temperatures move in, will increase river levels and stream levels throughout the watershed,” he said.
“But we’re not expecting significant flooding at this point.”
For now, Linwood says those in flood-prone areas should take precautions, and everyone should keep away from waterways for the time being.
Linwood adds they’ll keep an eye on things over the coming days, and provide updates when necessary.
The flood watch is in effect until noon Thursday.
