NBA’s Jamal Murray among the nominees for 2017 KW Athlete of the Year

The 12 nominees for the 2017 K-W Athlete of the Year award have been unveiled, and NBA great, Jamal Murray is one of them.
This is the second year Murray has been nominated; he was not able to attend today’s media event introducing all the nominees.
Another nominee is track star, Jamie Phelan, who was born here but currently studies and competes at the University of Michigan.
She was nominated in part for winning the NCAA 1500m race last year.
She says the support she received from family, friends, and coaches back here at home was unbelievable.
Tim Grant competes in one of the most grueling sports there is: Adventure Racing.
But he brushes off the difficulty of the sport, saying taking part in 100-mile long races is a great way to start a vacation.
Lacrosse champ, Mike Poulin, currently teaches local elementary school kids about his sport, showing them how to handle the stick and pass the ball.
The Athlete of the Year will be announced on May 16th.
