Help save a life: 350 local blood donors needed weekly

If you’re looking for something to do this weekend — why not go out and help save a life?

Emma Willms is Event Coordinator with Canadian Blood Services. She says there’s still an urgent need for blood donors across Canada, and here in Waterloo Region.

“The weather and the flu have definitely had an impact on the number of donors we see over the winter months, and especially the past few weeks. Now’s a great time for new donors to come out, make their first donation, and make a huge impact in our community.”

Willms says they need 350 blood donations each and every week to fulfill our local hospitals’ needs.

“Local patients need blood and blood products for their treatment. We’re asking people who are eligible to please come out and donate as soon as possible.”

Willms adds there are still over 600 openings to fill by March 10th.
