A rainfall warning has now ended for Waterloo Region and Southern Wellington County, but a flood warning for the entire Grand River watershed has been extended one day.
The Grand River Conservation Authority says even though the rain has stopped and temperatures return to more seasonal values, areas in the southern watershed will continue to experience major flooding from this rainfall event.
Environment Canada says 35.3 mm of rain has drenched the region in the last two days. The national weather agency initially said up to 50 mm was likely by Wednesday morning.
A flood warning will remain in effect until 3 p.m., on Thursday February 22.
