Woolwich man accused of driving so fast, OPP shut down Highway 8

By cceolin

OPP had to use a spike belt in a highway chase spanning Perth and Huron Counties on Saturday evening.

Police say they’ve now charged a dangerous driver from Woolwich.

It’s alleged the 52-year-old man was driving so fast, a section of Highway 8 had to be closed. The vehicle was clocked going more than double the speed limit.

When it became clear the vehicle wouldn’t stop for police, officers deployed a spike belt, putting an end to the chase in Clinton.

Police arrested a Woolwich man on charges including possession of meth and fleeing from police.

Highway 8 was closed for over three hours for a police investigation.

No one was hurt.
