Special weather statement: 10 to 15 cm of snow expected Monday

A special weather statement that was issued by Environment Canada is still in effect for the Region of Waterloo.

The national weather agency is expecting between 10 and 15 cm of snow as a cold front associated with a weak low moves across southern Ontario.

Geoff Coulson, a warning preparedness meteorologist with Environment Canada says ‘the snow will continue to fall during the rush hour before tapering off around midnight.’ Coulson goes on to add that for tonight ‘it looks like there will be some impacts from the snow on the ground and the falling snow, and that likely means that it will take longer for folks to get home.’

Environment Canada is forecasting wind gusts of up to 40 km/hr through Monday evening and into Tuesday.
