Grand River Hospital president and CEO to retire

After nearly 11 years at the helm, Grand River Hospital president and CEO, Malcolm Maxwell has announced he will retire in September.
“Malcolm has been a leading champion of quality patient care and staff and physician engagement throughout his career. Under Malcolm’s leadership GRH has become one of the safest hospitals in Canada. He leaves a legacy to be proud of. GRH has become a stronger organization, with a great senior leadership team, a talented and growing medical staff, wonderful and caring staff, and dedicated volunteers,” said Janice Deganis, chair of the GRH Board of Directors.
Some of the highlights under Maxwell’s tenure include: growth at both the K-W and Freeport campuses, improved access to emergency and medical imaging services and expanding mental health services.
The board of directors will work with staff to begin a national search for a new president and CEO.
Maxwell also held CEO roles in Nova Scotia, Alberta and British Columbia.
