After nearly 11 years at the helm, Grand River Hospital president and CEO, Malcolm Maxwell has announced he will retire in September.
“Malcolm has been a leading champion of quality patient care and staff and physician engagement throughout his career. Under Malcolm’s leadership GRH has become one of the safest hospitals in Canada. He leaves a legacy to be proud of. GRH has become a stronger organization, with a great senior leadership team, a talented and growing medical staff, wonderful and caring staff, and dedicated volunteers,” said Janice Deganis, chair of the GRH Board of Directors.
Some of the highlights under Maxwell’s tenure include: growth at both the K-W and Freeport campuses, improved access to emergency and medical imaging services and expanding mental health services.
The board of directors will work with staff to begin a national search for a new president and CEO.
Maxwell also held CEO roles in Nova Scotia, Alberta and British Columbia.
