Guelph Police cruiser rammed during getaway

Guelph Police are looking for two male suspects and a busted up Kia, after a police cruiser was hit in a getaway.

They say it happened Wednesday morning, around 10:30, at a department store in the north end of the city.

An off-duty officer was shopping there and spotted the males, described as acting suspiciously.

Police say the officer called for back-up, but before it arrived, the two males got into a Kia, believed to be stolen.

Two police cruisers tried to stop the Kia, but the driver rammed into one of the police cars and took off.

For public safety, there was no chase.

That vehicle is described as black, with a red roof, and will have some front end damage — it was last seen on Nicklin Drive.

No one was hurt.

Damage to the police cruiser is estimated to be $2,000.

Anyone who may know these males, or have information about what happened, is asked to contact Guelph Police at 519-824-1212 ext. 7228 or Crime Stoppers at 1-800-222-8477.
