Now THAT was fast: Cambridge man charged for driving 180 in an 80 km zone

It’s not every day police catch a speeder driving more than 100 kilometres per hour over the limit in the dead of night – but that’s what happened to Wellington County OPP.

Police say one of their officers clocked a newer-model coupe-style car going in excess of 180 in an 80 km/h zone.

This was around 2:30 a.m. Wednesday on Wellington Road 32 near Guelph.

The 30-year old driver from Cambridge was charged with racing, and has lost his driver’s licence and car for seven days.

He’s set to appear in court in Guelph on February 21.
