Police arrest 17-year-old after suspicious death in Elmira

Regional Police have arrested a 17-year-old in connection with a suspicious death in Elmira on Christmas Day.

Police received a 911 call from a home in the Falcon Drive area on December 25, and upon arrival, officers found 57-year-old Elizabeth Alder deceased inside.

Police say they consider Alder’s death to be suspicious, and have now charged a male teenager with second-degree murder.

The identity of the teen was briefly released earlier this week as police were still trying to track him down. He was ultimately arrested Wednesday on Farmers Market Road in Waterloo, and is set to appear in court on Thursday.

The WRPS Major Crime Branch and Fraud Identification Branch both continue to investigate, and a heavy police presence is expected through the Falcon Drive area for the next few days.

Anyone with information on the suspicious death is urged to contact Regional Police at 519-570-9777 ext. 8666 or Crime stoppers at 1-800-222-8477.
