Charges laid in Monday crash in Cambridge

Charges have been laid against a truck driver and the company he works for following a major collision in Cambridge on Monday afternoon.

The crash happened just after 1 o’clock at the roundabout located at Clyde Road and Franklin Blvd.

Police say a tractor trailer carrying industrial equipment traveled through the roundabout and tipped causing the truck and trailer to dislodge and fall on to the sidewalk.

The roundabout had to be closed for seven hours snarling southbound traffic in the area as police investigated and crews worked to remove the truck, trailer, and its cargo.

Police have charged a 50 year-old truck driver from the Welland area with two offences under the Highway Traffic Act.

The company he works for has also been charged with two offences under the Highway Traffic Act.

No one was injured as a result of the crash.
