Another WRPS officer suspended for an alleged sexual assault

The Special Investigations Unit says another Waterloo Regional Police officer has been suspended after an alleged sexual assault.

A statement from WRPS dated last Friday says a 17-year member of the service is off the job for something described only as “an on-duty matter.”

The statement says this happened last month, in October, but as per the SIU’s mandate, there will be no further information released.

The statement does not mention this was an alleged sexual assault, but an email to 570 NEWS from the SIU does.

Further, the SIU says it happened at the end of October, and was reported to them on November 10th.

The SIU says it will not release any more information for fear of identifying the alleged victim.

This follows the suspnsion last month of a Regional Police officer with six years service, for an alleged sexual assault that occured while off-duty.

As per the Police Services Act, both officers have been suspended with pay.
