Local OPP detachments help MADD Canada launch 30th annual Red Ribbon campaign

The launch of MADD Canada’s 30th annual Red Ribbon campaign is being celebrated by several OPP detachments in southwestern Ontario.

The Huron and Wellington County detachments held ceremonies yesterday.

From the Waterloo Region chapter of MADD, board member Paul Pinkerton tells 570 NEWS they’ll never stop putting their message out there.

But he says it’s hard to know if 30 years of telling people to not drink and drive is getting through to the public.

Pinkerton adds, even one drunk driving crash is devastating to the victim, and their family.

For this year’s anniversary campaign, Pinkerton says MADD Canada is offering special magnet ribbons you can put on the back of your car.

And as usual, you can pick up a ribbon to tie onto your car by making a donation at any LCBO store.

Those donation boxes, says Pinkerton, this year feature the pictures of 30 years worth of victims from impaired driving crashes.
