Canada Jetlines scaling back on plans for next year

One of the companies planning an ultra-low-cost airline for the Canadian market is scaling back on its plans for 2018.
Canada Jetlines says it’ll start operations with four planes next year instead of six and will operate out of only one airport in southern Ontario instead of two.
The Globe and Mail reports, the first flight for Canada Jetlines is still June 1st out of Hamilton.
In an interview with the Globe, CEO Stan Gadek says the company will use Abbotsford, B.C., as its hub in western Canada and will eventually fly out of Waterloo as well.
Canada Jetlines is one of two ultra-low cost carriers set to start next year.
The other is WestJet’s entry, Swoop.
Gadek believes there’s room for both forecasting the ultra low cost marketplace at 17 million passengers by 2023.
Air Canada has also said it will use its Rouge service as part of the ultra-low cost segment.
The Globe report says Canada Jetlines plans to increase its fleet by four planes per year through 2023 after its start.
