Speed suspected in fatal crash that killed Brampton man

Speed may have been a factor in a serious head-on crash near Halton Hills that killed a 37-year-old man from Brampton.

OPP say a minivan and SUV collided around 7:30 a.m., Saturday, on the Halton-Erin Townline, near Acton.

Police say the victim was behind the wheel of the SUV and pronounced dead at the scene.

His wife, also age 37, was rushed to hospital with serious injuries, while the driver of the minivan, a 20-year-old Markdale man, remains in critical condition at a trauma centre.

Police continue to investigate the cause of the collision, but say charges may be pending.

The name of the deceased won’t be released until the family has been notified.

Halton-Erin Townline is shutdown between Fourth Line and Fifth Line, as investigators remain on scene.
