Waterloo hockey player and Rangers prospect off to Under 17 tournament

Keean Washkurak will put on a Team Canada jersey in the coming weeks.

The 16-year-old Waterloo native was selected for the World Under-17 Hockey Challenge on Tuesday. It starts Sunday, November 5th in B.C.

Washkurak is a former standout with the Waterloo Wolves minor Midget program.

He has one goal in seven games in his rookie season with the Mississauga Steelheads.

Kitchener Rangers prospect Michael Vukojevic, who’s a defenceman, also got an invite.

Canada will make up three teams for the tournament, which will also include the United States, Russia, Sweden, the Czech Republic and Finland.
