Some good news for construction weary businesses in Uptown Waterloo.
City council has voted to hold the line on hourly and permit parking rates for next year.
The zero per cent decision was based on staff recommendations that took into account several factors that have hurt retailers in that area, most notably, all of the construction that has been taking place in the core.
Council, however, has approved in principal, rate hikes beginning in 2019 and running through 2027.
The recommendation is for hourly rate increases of 25 cents every three years.
The annual average increase works out to roughly three per cent.
