The Canadian Armed Forces train in Guelph Saturday

If you live in Guelph, particularly near the Guelph Correctional Centre, you may see and hear lots of action as The Canadian Armed Forces start their training event today.

“They are going to be conducting military training at the old Guelph Correctional Centre, on York Road, here in Guelph and at that time there is going to be helicopters being used in relation to those exercises and the training that they will be doing,” says Constable Buzz Dean with Guelph Police.

While it may be a little bit louder in that area, Dean says there is no cause for alarm.

“It is very common for Canadian Armed Forces and the Guelph Tactical and Rescue Unit to be involved in different training exercises and making use of different facilities around the province,” he says. “There will be a higher level of noise, and the helicopters will be around flying for the duration of these activities.”

The Armed Forces would also like to advise the public to avoid the area around the Guelph Correctional Centre while personnel conduct their training, to ensure public safety.
