Assault and weapons-related charges laid after stabbing in downtown Kitchener

One man was taken to hospital with stab wounds, after a fight escalated to the point where a knife was pulled in downtown Kitchener late Friday night.

Regional police say the brawl was between two men who were known to one another, near King and Ontario streets.

During the fight, police say one of the men brandished a knife, stabbing the other, and then stealing his property.

The victim has since been treated in hospital.

Police say the accused was located and arrested in the area a short time later, and remains in custody.

He has been charged with robbery, aggravated assault and possession of weapons dangerous.
