Child dies after being found in car in Etobicoke; person in custody

A young child has died after being found in a car in Etobicoke on Thursday afternoon, and police have one person in custody.
The toddler, who is under four years of age, was found in a vehicle behind an apartment building on Mill Road, near Burnhamthorpe, around 1 p.m.
The child was taken to a Trillium Health Partners hospital in critical condition and pronounced dead.
Police tape surrounded the car where the child was found. The vehicle’s windows were smashed and a child car seat was sitting on the sidewalk.
The investigation continues.
