Family rescued from bottom of Chedoke Falls in Hamilton

Fire and marine rescue crews have rescued a family of five that found themselves stuck at the bottom of Chedoke Falls in Hamilton on Monday.

Emergency crews were called to the scene around 1:30 p.m.

Police said the family went down to the bottom of the falls when the water level was low, but due to the amount of rain that came down, they ended up trapped on a rock when the levels rose.

No injuries have been reported.

Rescue crews were also called to Albion Falls around 2:15 p.m. after flash flooding caused a group of people to become trapped at the bottom.

Police said a man and his dog were swept away by the water but were rescued moments later by emergency crews. The man was treated for hypothermia. The dog was not harmed.

Nine others were brought up to main land by the fire department.
