Police investigating sexual assault in Waterloo

Regional Police are investigating after a woman was grabbed from behind and sexually assaulted early Sunday morning.
It happened in Waterloo near Westmount and Erb Street just after two in the morning.
Police say the woman was walking alone when she was grabbed from behind.
The woman was able to fight off her attacker and flag down a passing vehicle.
The suspect fled on foot.
He is described as male, in his early 30s, possibly Hispanic or Indigenous, about 5’8 to 5’11 with a medium build, and dark short hair.
He may have been unshaven at the time, but did not have a beard.
He was wearing a dark zip-up hooded sweater, blue jeans, and smelled of cigarette smoke.
