Severe thunderstorm watch still in place for Waterloo Region

A severe thunderstorm watch remains in place for Waterloo Region Thursday morning.

Environment Canada says conditions are favourable for the development of dangerous thunderstorms that may be capable of producing damaging wind gusts and heavy rain.

The national weather agency says the storms could produce wind gusts of 90 kilometres per hour.

They’re reminding us to use extra caution as weather conditions persist, and say severe thunderstorms are also capable of producing large hail, torrential rainfall, and tornadoes.

A severe thunderstorm watch is also in effect in Guelph, Erin, Northern Wellington County, Southern Wellington County, Mount Forest, and Arthur.
