Body discovered at North Dumfries farm identified as Kitchener man

Waterloo Regional Police have now identified human remains discovered in a farmer’s field in North Dumfries Township.

Police confirmed July 20th that the victim is 32-year-old Christopher Deweese of Kitchener.

A post-mortem continues in Hamilton to determine the cause of death, and the results are not anticipated until later this week.

However, Inspector Mike Haffner with Regional Police says the man’s death is being considered suspicious, based on the circumstances of where the body was located.

Police say Deweese’s body was found in the area of Old Beverly Road and Village Road by a local resident last week.

Investigators, the Forensic Identification Unit, Traffic Services Division and Major Crime Unit are expected to remain at the scene over the weekend, trying to secure as much evidence as they can.

Police were asking for the public’s help identifying the man, and released photos of the shoes he was wearing, in hopes someone would recognize them.
