Province, feds commit $8.4M for affordable housing in Kitchener

A big boost for affording housing in Waterloo Region.

The federal and provincial government has announced $8.4 million in funding for six affording housing projects in the region.

One of the projects will be a 22 unit building on Sydney Street South, in Kitchener.

When completed the KW Habilitation development will provide 22 units of affordable housing for adults living with developmental disabilities.

The other projects in Waterloo and Elmira will create 49 unit.

In total 71 affordable housing units will be created in the region with the new funding.

The facility will integrate KW Habilitation’s on-site programs, allowing residents to live independently while accessing available services.
