Uptown Waterloo will be filled with people of all ages as the 2017 Open Streets event is under way today.
This event has been around for a few years and has become a staple of Waterloo Region.
Open Streets are all about the livable cities movement. These community events promote playing and socializing.
You’re invited to enjoy live music, art activities, community groups, businesses, eateries and more.
The event runs from 1p.m. until 5p.m. and will take place on the Laurel and Spurline trails.
Open Streets will continue on the third Sunday of each month from June until September.
There will be five distinct nodes of activity along the trail system during each of the four dates.
Node #1 – Green Space beside the Laurel Trail south of Erb Street
Node #2 – Under the Willow Tree at the back of the Waterloo City Centre parking lot
Node #3 – Near the flagpole at Waterloo City Centre
Node #4 – In the laneway next to the Button Factory
Node #5 – Waterloo Public Square
Along the Trail (AtT) – other programming will occur on the Spur Line and Laurel trails
Each month will have a unique theme this Sunday’s is Words. The following events will focus on make believe, music and motion.
