Heat warning for Waterloo Region ends, cooler weather on the way

The heat warning has now ended for Waterloo Region and surrounding areas.

Environment Canada says a cold front is moving into the area today.

High temperatures in the low to mid 30 were recorded in several parts of the province yesterday.

In Waterloo Region, we topped up at 31 degrees, which was just shy of the 1949 record of 32.8.

570’s weather specialist John Wilson says we should be closer to normal with a high of 27 today.

The normal for this day is 23 degrees.

However, records were set in the Sarnia area as well as at both the Windsor Airport and Toronto’s Pearson International Airport where temperatures clocked in at around 33 or 34 degrees.

Heat warnings are issued if there are two consecutive days of daytime temperatures of at least 31 degrees and overnight lows of at least 20 degrees.
