GRCA puts a limit on the crowd size at Elora Quarry

The Elora Quarry is changing the way the public experiences its park.

The focus will be on increasing public safety and decreasing the overall environmental to the park.

Cam Linwood with the Grand River Conservation Authority says the park is setting a maximum daily capacity of 1,300 guests.

“We’ve taken a number of factors into consideration when setting this limit, obviously public safety is important and we want to make sure our emergency services partners can get in and out of the park if they have to at any given point in time,” he says.

Linwood says overcrowding of the small park has put significant pressure on the environment.

“We want to make sure our visitors have the best time possible, and the volume of people within a small area is a factor in that,” he says.

The new changes start today.
