Drug trafficking investigation leads to several arrests in downtown Kitchener

Over half a dozen men have been charged in connection with a week-long drug trafficking investigation in downtown Kitchener.

Cherri Greeno with Regional Police says their Drugs and Firearms Branch started investigating after multiple men were spotted selling what appeared to be illegal drugs in the downtown core.

“This was part of a week-long investigation into the illegal trafficking of drugs in the downtown core area. We were targeting specific people who were witnessed possibly selling illegal drugs– the result was several people being arrested,” said Greeno. “Each person faces charges relating to the trafficking of drugs. Officers during the investigation were able to seize a number of different drugs including methamphetamine, Oxycodone, Diazepam, crack cocaine, and cocaine.”

Greeno says in total, seven men between the ages of 26 and 72 face over 25 drug-related offences.

“The goal of an investigation like this in the downtown core is to make it feel safer, and to really make it safer for those who visit and live in the area.”
