Major construction to begin on Homer Watson and University

Construction season is officially here and that means there’s a few new closures to keep in mind as you hit the road this morning.

Starting today, Alpine Road and Homer Watson will both close on the south side of Ottawa Street to make way for the installation of two roundabouts.

Doris Papazotos is Manager of the Chicago Pub on Ottawa, and says she’s not too thrilled with the City’s plans.

“I think it’s going to be a traffic nightmare,” says Papazotos. “There’s already at least one accident every week on this stretch of road.”

The closure will be in place for the next 14 weeks. Drivers can detour by using Strasburg, Block Line and Courtland.

That’s not the only stretch of road getting a face lift this week, University Avenue is now closed between Phillip and Seagram until Saturday for LRT paving.
