Man wanted for murder in Kitchener spotted in Tennessee

Regional Police say murder suspect Ager Hasan has been spotted in Tennessee.

Inspector Michael Haffner says it happened at a truck stop over the weekend.

“With the assistance of US authorities, we received information that on May 20th– Hasan was engaged in a conversation with a man at a truck stop in Tennessee. Hasan apparently told the man that he was headed towards Texas.”

Haffner says they’re trying to locate Hasan as fast as they can in the United States– as he may be headed towards the border to Mexico.

“We’re hoping that Hasan turns himself in to a US or Canadian law enforcement agency immediately, so he can answer to the charge of second-degree murder. We’re concentrating our social media efforts to the southern states, so hopefully there will be more reported sightings.”

Police say the 24-year-old Hamilton man is wanted for second-degree murder, and has been on the run since the death of Melinda Vailisje on April 29th in Kitchener.

Hasan may be in a black Honda HR-V with Ontario or Pennsylvania plates.

Haffner says Hasan is wanted on a Canada-wide warrant, and is considered armed and dangerous.

“The cause of death for his girlfriend was the result of stab wounds– so to take in the risk of public safety, we have to maintain that Hasan is still armed and dangerous.”

Haffner adds that Regional Police will continue to work with Homeland Security and the F.B.I. to track down Hasan.
