Amber Alert for 2-year-old girl cancelled, stepfather charged

By The Canadian Press

The stepfather of a 2-year-old girl, who was the subject of an Amber Alert early Sunday morning, has been arrested.

The child was found safe and in good health and the Amber Alert was cancelled at around 8 a.m.

When she went missing on Saturday night, Eva Kaminski, 2, was reportedly last seen with her stepfather Brad Farand, 37, around 9 p.m.

Rainy River police responded to a report of a domestic dispute in Chapple Township that night. When officers arrived on scene, they learned Farand had allegedly fled in a vehicle with the toddler.

Following the Amber Alert issued at around 3 a.m., officers received information about the suspect’s whereabouts. They subsequently located and arrested him.

Farand is facing five criminal charges including assault, choking to overcome resistance and driving under the influence of alcohol.
