Arrest made following Kitchener stand off

An arrest has been made following a seven hour stand off in Kitchener.

It started around midnight at a residence on Stirling Avenue near Cameron Heights.

The suspect was wanted in connection with an earlier robbery at a convenience store on Ottawa Street.

Waterloo Regional Police Inspector Mike Haffner tells 570 NEWS, police retreated from the home after the suspect brandished a knife. The Emergency Response Unit was then called in.

An arrest was made shortly after 7 a.m.

It’s not believed anyone was hurt.
