Kitchener’s Scheifele named Athlete of the Year

Kitchener’s Mark Scheifele has been named Waterloo Region’s Athlete of the Year for 2016.
The Winnipeg Jets centre had 82 points this past season, a career high.
Mark’s dad accepted the award on his behalf at Tuesday’s awards dinner as Scheifele is with Team Canada at the World Championships.
“Definitely overwhelming, but also humbling, but also honoured as part of this community, for Mark to be able to receive such a tremendous award.” said Brad Scheifele.
