Hasan faces charge of 2nd-Degree Murder, Kitchener woman stabbed

The man wanted in connection with the stabbing of a Kitchener woman will face a charge of Second-Degree Murder.

A Canada-Wide Warrant has now been issued for the 24-year-old.

Pennsylvania State Police have confirmed a sighting of Ager Mohsin Hasan in Erie County.

Regional police have been trying to track him since Friday morning.

It follows the death of a 22-year-old woman. Melinda Vasilije was found dead in her Country Hill apartment early Friday.

Regional police tell 570News that an autopsy shows she died of multiple stab wounds.

Inspector Michael Haffner says the investigation is focused on Hasan.

“These two were involved in a relationship prior to this incident for approximately one year,” says Haffner.

“Our Major Crime Unit is dedicated to, and is continuing to, investigate this incident. Numerous individuals have been interviewed, canvasses completed, and the collection of evidence has been completed at Ms. Vasilije’s residence.”

U.S. Police say a man matching Hasan’s description was seen removing a Pennsylvania licence plate from a car at a Walmart in Harborcreek Township around 10:20 a.m on Friday.

The licence plate number is EZV1654, and the plate has a police medallion attached to it.

Hasan allegedly attached the plate to his own vehicle — a black Honda HRV — before driving away. Police say the Honda may also have an Ontario licence plate, with the number BPKT509.

Anyone with information is asked to call Pennsylvania State Police at 814-898-1641. Regional police say they will provide an update to reporters on Monday morning.
