SIU investigating incident on Mill Street in Kitchener

The Special Investigation Unit has been called in to investigate after and arrest was made on Mill Street in Kitchener.

It happened Tuesday evening along Mill between Queen and Spadina.

Regional Police say they were first called to an incident in Waterloo, where a man was involved in an altercation with someone known to him.

Police say the altercation allegedly involved an axe.

The man was later found on Mill Street where police deployed a Conducted Energy Weapon during the arrest. Police say he was taken to the hospital for medical treatment.

A police officer sustained a broken finger during Tuesday’s incident.

The SIU is called in anytime police interaction results in serious injury, death or allegations of sexual assault.
