Guelph man charged after posing as Uber driver

A 35-year-old Guelph man has been charged with mischief after posing as an Uber driver.

Police say it happened early Tuesday morning outside a downtown Guelph restaurant.

Two women accepted a ride from the man but when they got to their destination, he increased the price of the fare.

The women paid the original agreed upon price and not the increased one.

The driver didn’t like that, so he threw a water bottle and smashed the front window of their Victoria Road residence.

Guelph Police remind us to be aware of price gouging before accepting a ride.
