Cambridge man on day 72 of 90 days/nights in the cold

Paul Tavares of Cambridge is wrapping up “90 Days and 90 Nights in the Cold” to raise awareness about homelessness in the city.

On Wednesday, Tavares marked day 72.

In the past five years, Tavares has dealt with being homeless himself, even spending some nights at the Bridges, which is across the street from the parking lot he’s staying in at Water and Ainslie.

“Bridges was built to accommodate 75 people, now they’re pushing 120 on some nights. That’s a big problem,” explains Tavares.

He has set a donation goal of $10,000 and is also collecting food and clothing. At the end of the campaign, the donations will be spread throughout local shelters.
