No more buses for French immersion students

French immersion students with the public school board in Waterloo Region, will be walking or carpooling.

Their bus service is getting yanked.

The Waterloo Region District School Board is stopping the buses for almost 140 students after some boundary changes made half way through the school year.

The Record reports it means parents will have to drive them, or pull their children from the French immersion program and have them go to a school closer to their home.

Trustee John Hendry says the board can’t afford it. The price tag about $84,000 a year.

Trustees voted 5-4 against the bus service on Monday.
