Life is a highway: California cat found in Guelph

A lost tabby is heading back to the Golden Coast after being lost for three years.

The Guelph Humane Society have located BooBoo’s family in California after she was dropped off at their shelter earlier this month.

Melissa Stolz, Animal Program Coordinator at the Guelph Humane Society says it was a shock to the family when they received the call that their cat had been found.

“I think they were flabbergasted to hear that we had their cat, let alone their cat was in Canada. It was pretty shocking for them.”

It remains a mystery how the cat made the over 4,000 kilometre journey but she will be reunited with her family in Buffalo later this week before making the trip back to California.

The Guelph Humane Society wants to remind all pet owners how important it is to microchip your pet, keep your contact information on record up-to-date, and file a lost report when a pet goes missing.
