Pedestrian struck by impaired driver in Guelph

Police say charges have been laid after a crash involving a pedestrian in Guelph.

Guelph Police were called to the intersection of Woodlawn and Edinburgh on Tuesday around 6 p.m. after a pedestrian was struck by a vehicle.

It’s alleged that a 2008 Subaru was travelling eastbound on Woodlawn when the driver ran a red light, and struck a 65-year-old woman who was crossing the street.

The Guelph woman suffered an injury to her leg and was taken to the hospital to be treated.

Guelph Police say a 37-year-old Chelmsford man faces charges including failing to stop at a red light, operating a vehicle without insurance, and operating a vehicle under the influence of alcohol.
