Intoxicated Cambridge man resists arrest, threatens officers

A Cambridge man has been arrested following a struggle with police in Guelph early Sunday morning.

Guelph Police say they were called in to help security deal with a man that had been causing problems inside a Carden Street bar. When officers tried to speak with the man, he threatened them.

When officers tried to arrest the man, a struggle took place, and a conducted energy weapon had to be used.

Police say during the arrest, the man also grabbed the taser attempting to take it from police.

He was eventually arrested.

20 year-old Michael Gomez has been charged with assault with intent to resist arrest, disarm a police officer, being intoxicated in a public place and failing to leave premise.

He will appear in court in May.
