Three players from the K-W Titans have been suspended for their role in a bench clearing brawl during a game last week.
Tramique Sutherland will sit for 12 games. He also has to pay a $3,000 fine.
Kevin Foster will sit for eight games and Tramar Sutherland was suspended for two. Both were issued fines as well.
The brawl happened during a game against the RipTide in Saint John, New Brunswick on Thursday.
Eight players on the RipTide were also suspended.
“The significance of this spectacle is not in keeping with the quality of entertainment, level of play or behavioural modeling that we as a league strive to attain with each time our players come in contact with our supportive fans and community. The total of 52 games and $13,000 worth of fine money should make the statement to all of our fans and players that we are serious about our commitments to be upstanding role models for our youth. I personally hope that this serves as an opportunity for all participants to learn and grow from. I also encourage and hope that our fans will continue to support their home town team and apologize for this unfortunate incident.” said David Magley, Commissioner NBL Canada.
The Titans don’t play again until next Tuesday.
