Police arrest man after AED theft in Guelph

A Guelph man has been charged with theft after an AED was stolen from the Old Quebec Street Mall in the city Wednesday morning.

Police say a man took an Automatic External Defibrillator or AED from the second floor hallway.

Two hours later, they located the same man in the washroom of a Gordon Street restaurant and arrested him for theft after finding the AED along with some methamphetamine and marihuana.

The man was also carrying two cans of bear spray.

A 33-year-old has been charged with theft under 5 thousand, possession of stolen property, two counts of possession of a controlled substance, six counts of breaching a weapons prohibition order along with other charges.
