Everyone out safely following fire near downtown Kitchener

Fire crews in Kitchener continue to investigate a house fire in the area of Wellington and Ahrens.

Police say the call came in around 4:30 a.m. Thursday.

Kitchener Fire Department Assistant Platoon Chief Carlin Riley tells 570 NEWS the first and second floor of the home were engulfed when crews arrived.

No one was hurt, although two pets died in the blaze.

Riley says at this point– they don’t know what caused the fire and there is no damage estimate.
