Cambridge councillor reprimanded for sexual comments

Cambridge city council has officially reprimanded a city councillor for comments he made to a woman in violation of the city’s code of conduct.

Mike Devine was called on the carpet at city council for twice telling a woman she was a “sexy gramma” and making other comments.

Mayor Doug Craig told Devine at council last night, “It is a privilege to be entrusted by the public.”

The Record reports, Craig went on to say, “you wilfully breached that trust on two separate occasions through actions that were undignified, disrespectful and discourteous.”

In an interview with 570 News last week, Devine admitted what he did was wrong and promised it would never happen again.

Last night, he promised to take sensitivity training and also write a letter of apology to the woman.

The reprimand follows an investigation by the city’s integrity commissioner.
