Grand River Hospital hosts ‘Mush for Healthcare’

The staff at Grand River Hospital are getting ready for some fierce competition at the Guelph Lake Conservation Area next weekend.

They will be joined by mushers from across Canada to take part in the second annual ‘Mush for Healthcare’ event in support of the Grand River Hospital Foundation.

Tracey Bailey, president and CEO of the foundation says this is truly a unique fundraising experience for the community.

“It’s going to be a fascinating for people. It’s not what our typical fundraising activities are. It’s not a gala, it’s not a golf tournament everybody participate in those, this is something the chance to do something completely different while supporting your local hospital.”

Each sled team is matched up with a department at Grand River Hospital and will be fundraising in the hopes of raising $4,000 to support various initiatives at the hospital.

Bailey adds that herself, along with GRH president Malcolm Maxwell will match donations from staff members.

Public admission is free.
