Waterloo’s O.W. Sports closing after almost 50 years

It has been a mainstay in Uptown Waterloo for close to 50 years.

O.W. Sports has announced it will be closing soon.

Owners Kris and Colin Deyarmond posted on their website that they have made the difficult decision to say goodbye to the family business.

“We’ve welcomed second generation employees into our business. In a way, we’ve grown up with you and your families, and it’s been a pleasure to grow with you through the years.”

The Deyarmond brothers say they will be moving on to pursue other interests.

The store has been around since 1969.

They plan to liquidate their entire inventory in the weeks to come, a sale is expected to start Thursday.
