Kitchener city council approved the city’s 2017 budget.
It includes a 1.73 per cent tax hike.
When you factor in water, sanitary and storm water utility rates, an increase of nearly nine per cent, it means an extra 111 dollars for the average homeowner.
City Councillor Scott Davey, who is chair of the finance and corporate services committee says he’s pleased they were able to keep the tax increase under the rate of inflation.
In a news release, the city says it still has one of the lowest tax rates in the province.
