Driver charged after causing $50,000 worth of damage in Guelph

Guelph Police say speed and alcohol were factors in a crash in the city early Sunday morning.

They say a 20-year-old man from Georgetown was driving on Woolwich Street and lost control of the vehicle while trying to turn.

The car jumped the curb, struck a hydro pole, then struck a parked car before hitting a building on Woolwich Street.

The three people in the vehicle suffered minor injuries and the crash caused an estimated $50,000 in damage.

The driver of the car has been charged with careless driving, driving while under suspension and driving as a minor with a blood alcohol concentration about zero.

Guelph Police investigated 10 collisions over the weekend and three of those resulted in minor injuries and 5 resulted in charges.
